Beautiful flowers.

Hey girls! I was just thinking today, looking at the wonderful shirts Miss Litton made, and was thinking about the best way to look at this upcoming school year. There are so many ways to see this amazing ministry. Today was such a beautiful day, the sun shining bright, and the colors of nature are just so striking. It is amazing how beautiful God has made things, and how beautiful people can create landscapes and gardens to be. In a cheesy way of its own, our look at this ministry should be like growing a garden of flowers. The hall will be made up of mostly freshman, and some may or may not have even really understood what it means to be in a godly relationship with the Creator of the universe. As it should be, it seems too big for them, and even us to fathom. I pray that our hall will be receptive and teachable, but we will not know until the school starts. I encourage you to continue to pray for the girls in your group, maybe even individually. Although we don't know their names, we can number them! haha.

Back to the garden thing, we should think of the different ways that we will plant those seeds of growth in these girls, whether they know God or not. It is a fresh start to a new season in their life, and we are the cultivators of new spiritual growth for them. Christ is the ultimate Cultivator, but He is using every one of us to help them to grow and become the beautiful women that He wishes for them to be. I was reading Galatians 5 today, and it talked about the fruits of the Spirit. If you look at each of the 9 characteristics God commands us to have, they are so beautiful! When you meet women who have even one of those traits, you can't help but think how beautiful she is. We all want that. Many of those traits can be cultivated in your girls by encouraging them in their walk, making God's word exciting and helping them to want more and more of it. God has given you a passion for the Word and His work, our job is to help the girls to gain such a passion. We will be able to accomplish so much this year if we keep in mind that these seeds being planted will produce such beauty that the body cannot contain it. We are Daughters of Design, His design, and with the Holy Spirit in us, we are Daughters of Beauty when we reflect His fruit.

This note is a bit out of order I think, haha. I just got a bit worked up and went in all kinds of directions, and I apologize, but the main idea of it is to be excited! Be excited about the proverbial garden that will be planted in your prayer groups and in the leadership. Be excited about the beauty that will unfold in every room and be exuded all over campus. We will have the most gorgeous girls because they will reflect God's awesomeness in themselves. Oh man, and we will too! Keep praying for your girls, and we will continue to be praying for you!

My Summer So Far. . .

Hi Ladies! I'm not sure how much this post will make sense, because for some reason, I am really tired. Well, so far my summer has been this: the week after finals I had to observe a teacher and classroom for 30 hours at Liberty Christian Academy; That was exciting. . . not.
Then, instead of going back to Texas (where I am originally from, but I now live in the lynchburg) at the end of June through July, my sister asked me to come early and nanny my 1 1/2 year old niece Kyrie. So a few days later (this past wednesday) I went to Dallas, TX! And that is where I am and will be till the end of July! Well so far, I've changed about 3 or 4 poopy diapers, got splashed during bathtime, and have watched a "Praise Baby" video 100 times at the request of my niece. LOL I am having a great time getting to know and take care of Kyrie, it can be tiring though! I appreciate mothers more and more these days. . .
My cousin is getting married at the end of June, and then my brother is getting married in July. Then when I get back to VA, my friend is getting married Aug. 1st! It seems like everybody is getting married these days, ladies! I don't get it! lol anyway. . .tomorrow we are going over to my aunt's house to grill out and swim, then we're gonna see termanator! fun fun! so that is basically my summer so far.
I'm glad y'all are having good summers so far too!
In Him

Sorry for the gap!!!

Hello beautiful ladies of 28-3!!!! I pray that all of you are having tremendous summers! From the look of all of the blogs it looks like you are!! I can't wait to see what else you'll write as the weeks progress!

I apologize for not writing for a while! I've been pretty much without a computer the past couple weeks, but it feels kind of nice to take a break from technology! Not going to lie!

As for Scripture reading, Please continue reading in Proverbs even though it may seem like the same old stuff. For preparation in leadership last year, they had me read Proverbs from May until August in order to really give me different outlooks on verses at different stages of my summer. I would encourage you to continue this for you guys in addition to your typical Bible reading! It's a truly beneficial book and feel free to post about specific Proverbs that stuck out to you for discussion!!!

Sorry that this post is so short, but I'm just so anxious to read everyone else's post!!!! I'll write more later!

Better late than never right??

Hello Hello :) I am so excited that we have this blog to keep up with everyone!! And I just might have a few exciting stories to tell from work over the summer haha...it has definitely been an interesting summer so far though since it is my first one after being away at school. I already went on vacation with my parents to Florida (Orlando) on the Friday of finals week and we went to Aquatica and Sea World and chilled at the pool and such. It is weird for me though since my brother is not there anymore...he does live in Orlando but it's still not the same and it gets lonely :/ Anyway--don't even start to feel sorry for me I can take it!! haha

As for the rest of the summer I will be lifeguarding at Pocohontas State Park and I will basically live there since I already have 40 and 45 hour weeks lined up! I am finishing up gettin re-certified for all of that now so I think it is going to be pretty stressful at times but exciting too!! Oh yeah...and my dad bought a jet ski last night = D so that will occupy a bit of my time too ;)

My lovely prayer partner is Amy Botts and I am thrilled!
Not to mention my neighbor too! heehee

For prayer requests, my family because a situation came up that is pretty heavy and I really hope it all ends quickly and smoothly. My brother had a job through the government and it ended before it was supposed to, and well my mom has a cold since its not 90 degrees here like it was in Florida!

Remembering Dr. Falwell.

Hey Ladies! I hope you all are having a wonderful summer! I thought I would post today concerning Dr. Falwell. Today is the 2 year anniversary of his passing, and I was just thinking today (as I do most days) about how blessed I feel to go to Liberty. I mean, this man prayed so much for this institution to be put into place, and it has just soared. It's such an amazing place, and personally no other school can compare. :0) If you think about it today, I think we should pray for Dr. Falwell's family. For Jerry Jr. and Becki and his children; for Jonathan and his wife and children, Jeannie and her family, and most of all for Macel Falwell. I can't imagine what she must feel today.

Also, if you were here when Jerry was here, which I think is just one of us (Christen), would you post your favorite memory of him? If you haven't, you can write you favorite memory so far of LU...I mean I have a billion so that might take a while to dumb down to one! :0) Anyways, I just thought this would be cool to put up. Have a great day ladies! Love you all!

Summertime is RAD!

OHHH hello everyone. Why am I replying to this so fast? BECAUSE IM SO BORED. haha! My job doesnt start until june so guess what I get to do for a month? Sleep in! I slept in til 2:30 yesterday afternoon. It was awesome. Lets see...the summer has been awesome thus far. YES. I have been to a concert already. On saturday I got to see Stellar kart and some other awesome bands and yes I got to hang out with them afterwards which was so fun. Ohh. and yes I got a new t-shirt...make that 4 new t-shirts so far this summer. I think Ill keep a talley because the number, Im sure, will be over 15. Guess who I saw at the concert? VALERIE! so random. Some of you know valerie. She lived with us on 28-3 this past year. Anyways, like Katie said, Ive been putting all my stuff from school in the many crevices in my room. This I am a PRO at. Ive also been spending a lot of time shopping, which I am ALSO a pro at, and hanging out with my sister, not to be mistaken as my twin. This past weekend I painted my door. My mom got mad at me about something and after yelling at me she goes..."Ohhh and I dont want you painting ANYTHING else upstairs. Thats enough" Ohh well, its not like I was gunna paint the whole house. Actually, thats a lie. I would TOTALLY paint the whole house, inside and out. Anyways, I could go on for days with funny stories and silly things thats fill my day, but Ill get to the point. hahhaaa

Summer Plans: Yes. I have a plan!
1. Sleep in. Until June when my job at the Daycare starts back up. Never a dull moment there.
"miss lindsey. miss lindsey. why you paint you eyes?" They think I paint my eyes. cute.
2. June 10th Im going to see PARAMORE!!! & No Doubt. with....MY DAD!! and my sister. Im so excited.
3. July Im working merchandise and set-up for a music festival in July. YAYYY
4. Go to the mall with Justine.
This list could go on for a while.

Prayer Requests
1. That Kris Allen wins American Idol. Im serious.
2. Uhm. Me and my mom dont really get along, my personaility and hers completely clash and Ive had countless arguments with her already. So just pray for my patience with her. Its really frustrating. We just dont get along.
3. For my church. Theres a lot I could explain here, but just pray that God would bring life back to that place.

My prayer partner for the Summer is ANNNNNN. yesssss. Who will be my next door neighboor in the fall. We can communicate through the walls if we need to. hahaaa

Hope everyone is having fun so far because I AMMMMM. Ohh and whoever came up with this idea was a genious. I love it.

p.s. if youre looking for some new music, check out Matt Nathanson. excellent.

My Summer Plans!

From: Katie J
To: Everybody!

Heya, everyone! Hehe, I think this blog is a marvelous idea. I especially love the password. Mwaha. Anywho, my summer plans are basically just working and traveling around NC/VA/SC to see awesome people. (and possibly IL as well) I hope to have a lot going on this summer, to keep me busy and/or productive. Currently, I'm trying to get rid of the large, relatively frightening pile of stuff that I carted from Lynchburg to home by dispersing it into various cracks and crevices of my bedroom. I've been working on that for the last two days. Yikes. I hope everyone else is having an easier time with their dorm stuff than I am!

As far as prayer requests go, I am still job-hunting. A lot of places are hiring for the summer here, which is pretty amazing because I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a job with the economy being so poor and whatnot. However, prayer in this area would be marvelous. Also, my wayward cousin (ask me in person and I'll give you the full story) is up to her old schemes of trying to use me for rides, among other things. So prayer for her, and prayer that I won't go crazy this summer as I deal with her constant pressuring. There's also a boy....but that's all you're getting from me. Prayer with that whole situation would be great, because we really don't have a way to talk to each other this summer until he gets a new phone. And even if he did have a phone, relationships are tricky things on their own, especially if you're not sure if there's even going to be a relationship or not.

My prayer partner is Ashley Martens, who, coincidentally, is also my roommate. I'm excited to get to know her this summer!

Introductions for the week

From: Christen
To: All on 28-3 leadership!

Hello beautiful ladies! I hope the first few days of your summer break have been going well. You are greatly missed now that we can't meet or see one another in passing. Well, this blog was not discussed among us, but I'm hoping that it can be one more way to keep in touch with one another.

If at all possible, try to check it at least once a week to keep up with the lives of everyone. Also, remember that this blog isn't just for me or the big four, but for all of you to use to share prayer requests, random stories, memories, funny things that happened to you over the summer, ideas for the hall, and to keep in touch with us better!

This week, if you could all post at least once to share your summer plans, specific prayer requests that you have, and who your prayer partner is for the summer!

Your bible reading for this week is going to be Proverbs, Ephesians, and Philippians.
Tuesday, 12th: Proverbs 12 and Ephesians 1
Wednesday, 13th: Proverbs 13 and Ephesians 2
Thursday, 14th: Proverbs 14 and Ephesians 3
Friday, 15th : Proverbs 15 and Ephesians 4
Saturday, 16th: Proverbs 16 and Ephesians 5
Sunday, 17th: Proverbs 17 and Ephesians 6
Monday, 18th: Proverbs 18 and Philippians 1
Tuesday, 19th: Proverbs 19 and Philippians 2

Your prayer focus this week for your prayer partner is that they would get adequate rest both spiritually and mentally through this break.

Regarding Rest:
Matthew 8:24 -Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

Recently, the Lord has been teaching me alot about rest and its importance on many aspects of our lives. We are to rest rather than spend time worrying about what might happen. We are to rest when things are going crummy. We are to rest when we don't get an immediate answer from the Lord. Rest is merely clearing our mind of everything that could potentially distract us from our walk with God. This activity may seem pointless, but when we're resting in the Lord then we're not worrying, stressing, wasting time, or maintaining an always-moving mentality. Rest is not just a suggestion, it's necessary to not become spiritually sleep-deprived.
